SCOTT STUART 4 COUNTY COMMISSIONER

The year 2022 has already been a year of much change for Heritage of Hope. CHANGE #1: After ten years of serving on the Heritage of Hope team, Scott Stuart has stepped down to offer his leadership to the constituents of Deschutes County as County Commissioner. Scott’s heart has long been the Prayer of Jabez. His team is promoting Scott as the candidate who speaks what the people think. He and Cyndy moved to Redmond a couple of years back, and it has been a good fit.  Scott continues to meet the insurance needs of numerous churches and non-profits all over the Pacific Northwest. Not surprisingly, most of his clients have heard about Heritage of Hope and received a complimentary HOH Workbook. Scott’s enthusiasm, personal stories about caring for his own dad, and his willingness to emcee presentations have greatly benefitted Heritage of Hope. He also hosted some memorable board meetings. Scott’s tri-tip is delicious! Even though no longer on our board, Scott continues to spread the Heritage of Hope message. Starting January 27th, from 7 to 9 pm, Scott with facilitate a Heritage of Hope Video Series discussion group at Just Cut Fruit & Fitness in downtown Redmond. Thank you, Scott, for being on our team.

CHANGE #2: Dan & Melody Miller are in the process of moving to the warmer climate of Texas. Realtors, movers, builders, and hospitable relatives are their current focus as they enjoy the winter wonderland of Missouri. Both are eager to  resume their normal pursuits once they actually get settled in Caddo Mills, TX. Dan serves Heritage of Hope as Finance & Logistics Director while Melody is our Content Director. They will continue participating in HOH electronically as does Dave Williams when in Colorado. Dave serves as our Spiritual Director, and his non-profit experience with Responder Life has benefitted us more than a little. In Oregon, Lisa Clear, our Creative Technology Director, is updating the Household video to clarify a few points. Bev Alley, Communications and Events Director, is keeping all systems moving forward much like an Executive Director. We are a team of volunteers united in friendship and our desire to serve Jesus by helping his people prepare to Finish this Life Well.

CHANGE #3:  Gene Christian, the estate planner featured in our video series, went home to be with the Lord early in 2021. We will miss Gene. He was not only an excellent source of knowledge and wisdom regarding financial exit strategies, Gene was an encourager. He taught us with amusing and endearing stories. One illustration concerned his own grandmother. Per Gene, her net worth was very small, but her heart was large. She set up her estate so that it would fund the first year of college for the grandchild of hers willing to attend a Christian college. Gene was the willing recipient! It was during that important year that he became a Christian! Thus, his grandmother greatly impacted Gene’s life, and how many more lives through Gene’s 20 year career as an estate planner? Our end of life plans do make a difference! Gene educated and motivated many folks beyond Heritage of Hope to arrange their affairs so that the Kingdom of God would be well served. He served non-profits all over the Pacific Northwest.  We believe that Gene finished this life very well indeed. A message from his wife, Michele:  I know Gene’s deepest desire to honor his life would be that you complete your own estate planning documents, if they are not finalized already. This would bless him to know that your family can have the peace that whenever death comes, everything will be taken care of . . . May God’s peace be with you all during this time, and know that we are all looking forward to seeing Gene again someday in Heaven.

The Prayer of Jabez: There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request. 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.
