Two friends died in recent months, but they and their wives were prepared. Both were men of strong faith in Jesus. When I met them, their destination was not a concern but rather some of the complicated details of this life. Heritage of Hope gave both couples a decision-making process to follow. They visited attorneys, discussed options, and followed through with the necessary actions. Their HOH preparations were not accomplished without effort. It took time and money to facilitate their exit strategies. Was it worth it? Pain and sorrow were not eliminated, but their loving HOH preparations eased the conclusion of their journeys home. The families of both men were freed up to remember the good times, and they certainly did. The memorial services of these dear friends were truly Celebrations of Life.

What a contrast are these sweet stories to the elder fraud and medical gridlock faced by the HOH founders and many others. Heritage of Hope preparations do make a difference. Just yesterday, I learned of a man who died without naming his wife as beneficiary or co-signer of an important bank account. Consequently, his young widow cannot access their funds without costly and time consuming legal assistance. HOH preparations are needed by adults of all ages—not just those considered older.

Those who avoid discussing death or preparing for the end of this life not only make things more difficult for their loved ones, they miss out on the peace and even joy of knowing their HOH preparations will honor God and bless their people. One gentlemen from The River Center Church in Oregon’s Lebanon, Jim Asleson, was so pleased to complete his HOH preparations, he expressed his satisfaction with an original song! Listen.
