About Melody W. Miller

A retired counselor, Melody was thrust into disturbing end of life issues by an emergency Guardianship and Conservatorship of her father. She realized many of her family’s difficulties could have been avoided with more extensive pre-planning on the part of her parents. Subsequently, it became Melody's passion to help people organize their affairs so that their families could honor them. The HERITAGE OF HOPE Video Series, the HOH Workbook, and the HOH Website (www.FinishLifeWell.org) all work together to inspire and equip adults of all ages to identify the crucial decisions and complete the essential tasks . . . TO FINISH this LIFE WELL.

HOW DO YOU VISUALIZE LIFE & DEATH?

If life is a COUNTDOWN, then death must be an EXPIRATION DATE. The clock is ticking. To folks who think this way, getting old is not a blessing but a fearful thing as it means they are "over the hill" and on their way out. Even Paul admits the bucket-list mentality makes some sense [...]

THANKSGIVING IS A WAY OF LIFE

For those of us who follow Jesus, however, thanksgiving is much more than a holiday. . . thanksgiving is a way of life, even our lifeline. Giving thanks is our pass into the presence of God (Psalm 95:2). Giving thanks to God is also the means of proclaiming His great deeds (Psalm 105:1, 107:22) [...]

DEAR VETS, YOU MAKE ME PROUD

Marine Hubert Self You make me proud. I used to be proud to be an American because the foundations of our nation were biblical and designed for the good of the people and the glory of God. The ideals of freedom and patriotism still stir me, but it is easy to find [...]

YOUR ESSENTIAL MESSAGE

Have you considered what essential message you would like to leave with your dear ones? Unlike Jesus, few of us know the time and place of our departure. It seems wise to prepare our last words, our essential message, the equivalent to Jesus' upper room discourse, now. In Jerusalem, our Lord purposely gathered his disciples [...]

IN A PARK NEAR YOU

In a park near the home we enjoyed in Washington, the Lewis River tumbles over rocks and tree roots to create the most soothing sound I know. As much as I loved to walk rapidly up, down, and around the three-mile loop through the forest, I was inevitably drawn to one bench by the river. [...]

GOING HOME–DEFEATED OR VICTORIOUS?

In 1946, twenty Japanese soldiers were living on the island of Corregidor near Manila Bay in an underground tunnel. Cut off from all communications, they focused on survival. One snuck out for water and happened upon a newspaper. He learned Japan had surrendered September 2, 1945. WWII was over! Such knowledge changed everything. He and [...]

THRIVE TIME by Donna Scales

What a rotten week it’s been! Nothing seems to have gone right. But tomorrow is Thursday—THRIVE TIME—something to look forward to. What is THRIVE TIME? Let me tell you. It’s one of those many examples of God turning something not-so-good into something very good. I’d waited most of my married life to have more time [...]

A TIME TO HONOR (Brian C. Wilson’s story)

After hours at highway speeds, Camp Pendleton was far behind, some 900 miles behind. Brian was pleased to drive the rental truck for his deployed son’s young family, but the grandkids were restless, and their mother was hoping to make Boise before dark. Even stopped for gas, he was hustling internally. What is taking so [...]

DIFFICULT DECISIONS AT THE END OF LIFE

By Ginny Rodriguez As many do, my husband Larry returned from a mission trip to El Salvador with stomach aches. How surprised we were to learn his ailment was not Montezuma’s revenge, but stage 4 colon cancer. My 70-year-old husband took the news with courage and made difficult decisions. LARRY'S 1ST DIFFICULT DECISION He asked [...]
